Have you ever wondered why so many people pray, yet still don’t become rich? Why do they struggle to attract abundance and prosperity?
It’s because, somewhere along the way, we learned to pray the wrong way.
Today, I’m going to share everything traditional teachings might have gotten wrong. You might hear something you’ve never heard before—a concept that could completely reshape your old beliefs. So, get ready for this.
First, understand this: the way you pray might be what’s keeping you in lack. How? I’ll explain in this article. But let me start with where this idea came from and the success story it created.
A childhood friend of mine, Smriti, reconnected with me a few years ago. She came to visit and saw my life, my work, and my lifestyle. She herself is very intelligent, a top performer in school, and great in her field. But she told me, “I can never seem to match that lifestyle. I try so hard, but I can never accumulate extra money. What’s the issue?”
This was her struggle, despite being very diligent in her prayers and worship.
I told her what most people get wrong: We pray to God from a place of lack. We beg for help. We ask God for money, for happiness, for health. And that is our biggest mistake.
This is the fundamental truth of consciousness and the Law of Attraction: when you ask for something, you are declaring that you don’t have it. You are begging, which means you are operating from a vibration of scarcity. The Universe, God, or the Divine Energy responds to the energy you radiate. It senses that you feel empty and assures that you continue to experience that lack. It essentially says, “Tathastu” (so be it)—your reality will reflect your own belief about yourself.
This was Smriti’s mistake, and it’s the mistake of millions.
So, I gave her three shifts to make. The first one was this:
Stop praying from LACK. Start praying from ABUNDANCE.
I told her, “When you pray, your first words should be ‘Thank You.’ Thank you, Universe. Thank you for all you have given me: my health, my family, the roof over my head, the food on my table.” These are not small blessings. Many people don’t even have these.
We forget our abundance in our desire for more, and we present ourselves as impoverished before God. We know He is the storehouse of all wealth, that He lacks nothing. But you don’t receive by begging; you receive by being. So, you must pray from the consciousness of already having.
I asked her to start praying from a place of gratitude and abundance.
The results? You won’t believe it. Within six months, her debts were cut in half. The next year, she got a promotion. Her children got into excellent colleges. Her husband found a great job. Their savings now far exceed what they owed, and she even started investing.
In just a year and a half, by changing her prayer style, she invited profound abundance into her life.
What does this teach us? The Universe is like the sun—it shines its light and abundance on everyone impartially. So why doesn’t it reach everyone?
Because we have closed our windows and drawn the curtains.
As the teacher Florence Scovel Shinn said, “There is no poverty in the divine plane.” Lack does not exist in the divine realm. Darkness is merely the absence of light. Similarly, poverty is just the absence of abundance. It is not a separate, powerful force. We block the flow by focusing on our limitations.
The day you open your windows, the sunlight of God’s abundance will begin to flood in.
Here are the three shifts you must make in your prayers to open those windows:
Shift #1: Pray from Abundance, Not Lack. Declare, Don’t Beg.
Your first change is to pray from fullness. Make “Thank You” your prayer mantra. Do this routinely. Every time you worship, say it. Every time you feel a twinge of lack, immediately declare: “I AM ABUNDANT.”
We are children of God. If we beg like a pauper, God responds to that identity. But when you approach Him as a worthy heir, you claim your birthright. You don’t ask; you declare. You give an order, as God would. “Let there be light.” So, declare: “I am abundance. Abundance flows to me now.” Pray from gratitude, not need.
Shift #2: See Abundance, Not Lack. In Yourself and the World.
In your prayers and in your life, you must focus on the prosperity you already have. If you wake up every day and only see your bills, your debts, and your problems, you will attract more of the same. This is an immutable law.
I experienced this myself. I used to have a balanced life—I worked as much as I earned. But when I shifted my focus to the abundance already present, my work became my purpose, done with joy, and my income multiplied many times over.
God has unlimited gifts to give. We simply need to prepare ourselves as a vast vessel—an ocean—not a tiny cup. Your consciousness is that ocean of unlimited abundance. Start thanking God from the heart for what you already have, and watch how more flows in.
Shift #3: Pray from Your FUTURE Self.
This is a powerful shift. Pray as if you already have the life you desire. You want more money, a certain home, a specific lifestyle? Visualize it. Create a scene in your mind. What are you wearing? How are you walking? What are you saying?
Then, pray from that version of yourself.
“Thank you, God, for this beautiful home.”
“Thank you, Universe, for this overflowing wealth that grows every day.”
“Thank you for these incredible opportunities.”
Feel the gratitude for these things as if they are yours right now. This tells the Universe you are ready to receive them in your present reality.
Now, you might think, “Will just changing my prayer do all this?”
No. Prayer is the tool. The real work is done by your consciousness. The real shift is in your identity—from poor to rich, from lacking to abundant. The real change is in expanding your vessel to receive more.
I am sure these three shifts will teach you a new way to pray. I promise you, if you pray this way, abundance cannot stay away from you.
Just try this experiment for seven days. The shift can happen so quickly that you won’t believe it. You’ll realize it was always there for you—you were just blocking it.
If you believe in this concept, declare it in the comments: “I AM OPEN TO ABUNDANCE NOW. I AM READY TO RECEIVE.”
And please share this with anyone struggling financially. When we all learn to pray the right way, we activate our collective consciousness. True wealth resides in our subconscious mind, in our mental state. And from that space, we can create a world of abundance for ourselves, our society, and our nation.
I’ll see you in the next positive article.
