Akshaya Tritiya Puja Vidhi: Simple Step-by-Step Guide for Home (2026)

Har Har Mahadev, Jai Bhole Nath! Greetings, friends. Today I am going to explain a very simple method for performing Akshaya Tritiya puja, and I assure you that you will feel as if you are watching a video – I will explain everything in the same detailed manner.

Friends, people who keep crying that there is no prosperity in their homesβ€”there are two such pujas in a year which, if performed properly and correctly, cause Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings to shower upon that family endlessly. How much she blesses depends on one’s duties and actions, but it is not that this puja goes in vain. Those two pujas are Diwali and Akshaya Tritiya, because Akshaya Tritiya is also called the Summer Diwali and Dhanteras.

So let me tell you a very simple method. You can perform it in your home temple or separately on a small platform (chauki).

Auspicious Time (Shubh Muhurat) for Akshaya Tritiya Puja

Akshaya Tritiya begins on April 19th at 10:45 AM. You can perform the puja after that. The muhurat lasts the entire day, but try to complete the puja before 12:00 noon, ideally by around 11:03 AM – that is considered best.

Direction and Seat

This is the puja of Goddess Lakshmi, so try to face North while performing it. If facing north is difficult, you may face East.

Puja Items (Required Materials)

First, you must keep a Kalash (sacred pot). Akshaya Tritiya puja is not considered proper without a kalash. You can take a clay, brass, or copper kalash.

How to prepare the Kalash:

  • Fill the kalash with water.
  • Tie a mauli (sacred red thread) around its neck.
  • Put a coin, a betel nut (supari), and a little akshat (uncooked rice) into the kalash.
  • If you have mango leaves, put them in as well.
  • Spread a handful of rice on the place where you will keep the kalash, and place the kalash on it.
  • Place a coconut or any seasonal fruit on top of the kalash. You may also light a diya (lamp).

Other items:

  • An idol or picture of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Gauri (the Shiva family)
  • A picture of Lakshmi-Narayan together
  • Flowers, akshat, vermilion (sindoor), incense sticks, lamp
  • Panchamrita (milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey)
  • Perfume (itr), clothes or kalava (sacred thread)
  • Sweet offering (kheer or any other sweet dish)

Step-by-Step Puja Method

1. Ganesh-Gauri Puja (for obstacle removal)

First, meditate on Lord Ganesha. Offer him a little water, flowers, akshat, and sindoor. Offer red flowers to Goddess Gauri. If you are a married woman (suhagan), offer sindoor as well. Pray:

“O Ganapati, O Gauri Mata, I am about to perform the Akshaya Tritiya puja. Kindly bless my puja and grant me the permanent residence of Lakshmi-Narayan in my home.”

2. Sankalp (Vow)

Take a mental vow:

“O Mother Lakshmi-Narayan, may you reside permanently in my home. I seek the grace of Garuda-Vahini Lakshmi (the Lakshmi who rides on Garuda along with Narayan). The owl-riding Lakshmi brings wealth, but it is temporary. I want the wealth that brings lasting happiness for generations.”

3. Light the Lamp and Incense

Light a lamp and incense sticks.

4. Abhishekam (Ritual Bath) of Lakshmi-Narayan

  • If you have a metal idol (brass, etc.), bathe it with Panchamrita (milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey).
  • Then bathe with clean water.
  • After bathing, apply perfume (itr) and offer a cloth or a sacred thread (kalava).

5. Offer Flowers and Bhog (Food)

  • Goddess Lakshmi is especially pleased with lotus flowers. Offer them if possible.
  • Offer yellow flowers to Lord Vishnu.
  • Offer a sweet dish (kheer or any other sweet). You may also buy sweets from the market.

6. Chanting and Aarti

If you wish to perform remedies, you can follow the eight remedies (ashta upay) method I have explained in earlier videos. Otherwise, chant Kanakadhara Stotram, Sri Suktam, or any mantra of Goddess Lakshmi. Finally, perform the aarti of Lakshmi-Narayan.

7. Conclusion

Sprinkle a little water under the seat (asan). Get up and attend to your necessary duties.

Donations and Shopping on Akshaya Tritiya

Buying Gold/Silver

Buying gold on this day is considered extremely auspicious. If you can afford it, definitely buy. Best time: April 19th from 10:45 AM to 1:00 PM. (The Tritiya tithi lasts all day, but this time is best.)

If You Cannot Buy Gold/Silver

Buy chana dal (split chickpeas) and barley (jau). According to scriptures, these two items give the same benefit as gold. Donating them is also very beneficial.

What to Donate?

  • Donate chana dal and barley.
  • Donate some grains (ann) and some money.

Note: There is also a tradition of donating the kalash, but nowadays it is difficult to find someone to accept it. So donate the simpler items mentioned above.

Special Items (Optional – Shri Yantra, Rin Mukti Kavach)

Some people take energized Shri Yantras and Rin Mukti Kavach on Akshaya Tritiya. Let me tell you that the following items are being energized and offered this year:

  1. Parad Shri Yantra: Made from an aspect of Lord Shiva. Shiva blessed Goddess Lakshmi that wherever this form of his resides, Lakshmi will reside permanently. It brings wealth and also retains wealth. It can take a person from poverty to kingship.
  2. Sphatik Shri Yantra: Made of crystal (Venus metal). It pleases Venus (Shukra) and brings wealth. However, retaining wealth requires the grace of Lakshmi-Narayan through worship.
  3. Dhanadayak Potli (as every year)
  4. Rin Mukti Kavach (in a copper locket) – specially for those troubled by debt. Wear it around the neck or arm.

Note: These items are energized and sent after Akshaya Tritiya. It may take a month or more to arrive. Please be patient. Contact the office number to book.

Final Advice

Friends, perform the puja with full attention and devotion. Visualize that Goddess Lakshmi is arriving from the ocean of milk (Kshir Sagar) to your home and accepting your worship. Do not get caught up in pomp – keep only one kalash; there is no need to keep four or five. Have faith and perform the puja with the correct method.
